Tennis, the best thing about the game... - 8 years ago
my granddaughter took up sports this year... first time in her life. She's in the 7th grade. She made the finals in doubles tennis, (lost today). So I asked my granddaughter... and I'm going to test you as well... what the single 'greatest' thing is about Tennis? Know? Sydney, my granddaughter, got it wrong. Just because it's a regular part of the Ram's offensive... which is the same for every team in the NFL and has been for years... does not mean he's doing it. For the rest of you... our local area had two mega-huge AM radio stations in the 60's, 70's. KYNO and KMAK You were either a KYNO person or a KMAK person and there was no 'mixing'. Well, not that you could admit anyway. It was BIG... and if you doubt me... the movie "American Graffiti" was based on a Modesto radio station, not far north of here. We took our music seriously. but first, yes... I agree with that. But I used the word 'emotionally' because it just 'feels' to me like this year means more to the Dodgers. Not next year, this year. Even in today's game, not close, the game had a plethora of excitement... plays at the plate, home runs, steals, you name it. Earlier I said I'd 'probably' pull for the Cubs... I think that's still true, but I don't really care, actually. Funny thing for me is this: And you 'true' fans can shoot this down if I'm off base here... Keenum and Goff, that is. Here's my quandary - Like you, as long as Keenum is 'winning'. Also... Keenum had an excellent game by what I read, (didn't see the game and 'stats' are only one consideration for me, but his were excellent). Teams get reputations... and they are posted in neon lights, flash across billboards, receive gargantuan proportion air play in the media. GRob is known for holding, penalties in general... it's written about in the media and a major focus of attention on this board... guess where the officials are going to be most keen to look when he's on the field? I understand why fans are, and I also understand the frustration with Fisher. But I also think there is enough positive, (admittedly quite camouflaged at this time) that this whole thing could turn around instantly. I was wrong. Not a single game broadcast locally this year unless it's 'National'. We get the Chargers, Raiders, and Niner... and when the Raiders move that won't change. It's not like I didn't know know this was Niner country... that would be rather difficult to miss, :banghead But I didn't realize how pervasive it is to include our media. we'd get all zeros across the board. It just seems like only one thing can work at a time... player-wise, team-wise, every-which-way-wise. D's good O's bad, vice versa. ST's on on fire the O & D stink. Didn't see the game... I think Gurley had 44yds in the first half but only 7 carries? That's a very good average so why not more stress on the running game? not quite the same thing, granted. When I played an electronic kit I'd set it so the output would somewhat mimic my kit setup.. so High Hat would be predominately stage left and my floor tom stage right. Snare dead middle. Not talking about this particular game, by the way. There should be an entirely different term for a pass that hits a receiver in the hands, or chest, bounces off and gets picked off. I actually like the 'Brown'.. nice earthy quality. Now as for the Bronco's... too much orange. I like orange, that was too much orange. The Chargers, on the other hand, I thought looked great.
