Sorry, I watched those guys play, sometimes live. They were not much more than average. And making 1 pro bowl is not a hallmark of a great QB. As far as RG3 - letting him flop around with a broken knee wasn't his fault?by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
In order to move him - keep part of his cap hit on our books to make him more attractive to another team, just to send him on his way. I'm all for it. What could we get? A 3rd?by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
He didn't draft or develop him - he inherited him. The guys that came after - his guys - Griese, and Plummer (they traded for or sign FA) were not good. His time in DC not great either and we see the disaster that was the RG3 career as a Redskin. I do agree that his system allowed a lot of RB's to thrive even after Davis was injured and gone. A lot of what those lines did, however, is now pby promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
You can't wait for these guys to learn on the job for 2 or 3 years - by that time the roster has turned over, or the coaching staff is gone. Except for QB and high pick should be able to come in and contribute a bit in season 1 and more in seasons 2 and 3 or it's just not worth it.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
If the best guy happens to be on a team headed for the playoffs - wait. Never understood the mad dash to make sure you had someone hired before the Super Bowl. If you want to hire a head coach who you think will lead your team for a decade - a few more weeks, in the grand scheme of things is worth the wait. It's not a sprint. Get the right guy even if it means waiting.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
Funny that Gruden kept going back to - 'if he gets protection he can shred you'. Kept pointing out the terrible protection Goff got at Cal. Like he had a crystal ball...by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
And his innovative offensive systems. Just what the doctor ordered. A blow hard who can win when the deck is stacked in his favor.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
Literally the year before. There were no coaching or major roster changes from 2000 to 2001 when they won. Pierre Lacroix traded for and bought an all-star team back in the days before the cap. He pre-dates Kroenkeby promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
And even if he did turn the Rams around, how long would he stay? Seems to like to jump jobs pretty often. Heck if he came to us, he'd be turning his back on his Alma Mater after only 2 years.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
As if just drafting and developing Jenkins was a positive for Snead whether he was playing for us anymore or not. You can't just draft and develop good players and then let them walk to be a good GM. You have to retain the right guys. They chose to pay Foles and retain Tavon over keeping Jenkins. You cannot make mistakes like that.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
Does he write with bitterness? Yes. Do I like his tone and enjoy all his articles, no. But which of the points he makes in the article would you dispute? He lays out some ugly truths about the franchise, maybe you want it delivered in more flowery words, but I don't think he's off on everything he points out.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
Keep hearing about how great of a job Jeff was doing with a healthy Bradord. But he had a losing record with Bradford as a starter. They had a losing record when they went into Carolina the year Bradford got hurt and were on their way to losing that game when he did go down. It's fun to reimagine history if you're Jeff's fishing buddy. Way to go Mort.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
Got to be one of those 2. Both have head coaching experience, though neither was successful.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
Like 1 yard short. Story of his coaching life.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
Why now? He was given control over the staff and he hired who he wanted. Suddenly he's going to have an epiphany and come to his senses? Good luck with that. Also, Norv just quit on the Vikings mid season during a rough stretch. The guy may be done with the game.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
The Chiefs are like Fisher's wet dream - don't take too many chances on offenses. Try and limit turnovers. Play stingy, opportunistic defense, good special teams. Grind out win after win. Their offensive roster is on exceptional. Smith is middle of the road, they have a committee at RB, Wr's don't exactly light it up. One thing they do have is one of the best TE's in the game. Other thanby promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
That article say the relationship is toxic and has been for a while. To me, this might explain why Snead and Fisher never even spoke or met together on the show. Not saying this is proof - but it's possible, based on what we now know about their relationship.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
I may be missing some names, but in the last 10-15 years are there any long time college coaches, with little or no pro experience, who've made good NFL head coaches? The guys I can think of are Kelley, Petrino, Saban, Spurrier. Not exactly an 'A' list of pro coaches. Who am I missing? Carroll had a long history as a Defensive coach, DC, and Head coach in the NFL before he went to USC.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
HBO and the NFL did. I'm sure the Rams would have rather not done it. Teams are forced to do it by the league. My point wasn't that there was orchestration, but that the cameras spent a lot of time on Jeff and it was pretty clear that he and Led do not spend a lot of time working together - almost none if you look at the show footage compared to previous years - even when meeting with and cutby promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
The players he has dominate physically with a simple scheme. Works in college when you're more talented than the guy lining up across from you. Not so great for NFL.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
Form the years and years he was a head coach. No thanks.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
I keep hearing this guy's name as some kind of savior. His last stab at the NFL was a disaster and he quit on the team. Which NFL QB's has the guy recruited, developed? He's an awesome coach - as long as his roster is far and away better than the team he's playing against. No thanks.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
In the Jets one - Tannenbaum was in the meeting rooms with Rex going over roster all the time. Same deal with the Houston one, don't remember the GM's name. I believe the GM was the first guy players saw when they were cut - then they went to Obrien's office too. Obrien and the GM were also together when decisions were made about bringing in street free agents when guys went down in camp. Atby promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
The guy was a ghost on the show. Never in any shots, barely in the scene with Tavon's contract extension, no sound bites. Different from the other seasons of Hard Knocks. This was brought up on the board when the show first aired and most posters poo-pooed it as no big deal. I think it was telling.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
Just raw numbers detailing his failures as a coach - no way they could know how hard it is to drive on the 101 freeway a few times during the offseason.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
None of us know how much or how little control he has had. Which picks are his and which are Fisher's. There is no way to separate them out. You could argue that Tre Mason and Greg Robinson have his fingerprints on them because they're Auburn guys, but who knows? They need a new GM and a new coach and new culture.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
Or the better than the league amount of UDFA's who are playing and shining? Or how you just suppose that Fisher calls all the shots on personnel but you really have no real information to confirm that's the case.by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
Oh and talk about moving boxes and team hardship. And watch his career circle the drain. Ska-doosh!by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
You seem to be saying that the organization doesn't think the guy is good enough to give final say to, but somehow - free from the bounds of his overlord Jeff Fisher he'll spread his wings and fly. Not buying it. He's forever going to be linked to Fisher and the drafts he actually worked on - and the record is not good. On your other point - the UDFA thing - what are his big 'hits' in thatby promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm having trouble seeing the difference makers. How many are actually on the team from the last couple years? Which ones are making plays? Surprising people that they weren't drafter earlier?by promomasterj - RamsFootballFans.com
