I think Groh could make a real impact. he seems demanding and precise. More creative.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
If they go 9-7 he's coming back. Doesn't have to be 11-5, not with a rookie QB. But I do get his point that the team is too talented for 7-9 bull&#%*....by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Well, to me that's just it- neither has won the job yet. I don't think they'll really confirm the week 1 starter until after the 3rd preseason game. It sounds to me like Goff has come a long way from practices 1-2 to practices 8-9. And I think that will just continue through practices 20, 25, 30, etc. The kid just needs the work. Unfortunately with the new CBA they haven't had 25-30 practices byby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Just an FYI. A colleague at my company is a former NFL player who many here age 40+ would remember. Not a star but a 10-year veteran who played throughout the 80s and in a couple Super Bowls. He was later a sports radio personality in a city he played in and an assistant coach with two teams. Anyway, he and I have chatted a few times and most recently he knew I was a Rams fan and we chatted aby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
- UC Irvine is a good place for camp. It's a good facility. Camp is camp. Any aspect of the move and doing OTAs in Thousand Oaks and camp in Irvine is way overblown. - Goff really will not get handed anything... he's soft spoken but affable and liked by his teammates. Has a good work ethic. - HBO is trying to feature a player or two that will eventually get released and create some drama.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
For that reason alone it is somewhat make or break. The Rams will decide to pick up that option- or not- based on this season. And as the #2 pick in 2014 that 5th year will be in the $12M range.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
It's not often that you see a guy that was just a special teams and role player his first three years end up in the HOF. You could see his potential and intensity his first 2-3 years. The Rams had really good OLBs then with Mike Wilcher and Mel Owens so it was hard for him to crack the lineup. He was a beast by year 4. ... is that they have a lineup of about 50 former Rams (in their old jerseys) that the team runs past when they come onto the field. It would be great to have both Pace and Greene among them.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com

I think Goff could win the job and start week one. But if Keenum outplays him- and Goff has to outplay him vs. starters not just 2nd teamers- I could see Keenum getting 2-4 starts. I don't think they'd have him get start #1 vs. Seattle. And not @ Arizona either. Who knows. Should be interesting. I'm hoping he gets roughly 75 pass attempts in preseason.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think they keep Marquez. He seems like a good ascending player and this team really values ST contributors. I agree with you otherwise. Long way to go but I think the 6 will be Austin, Britt, Cooper, Thomas, Marquez and Spruce. Like with the OL last year I don't think they'll hesitate to carry a lot of rookies there. And I think they'll store two rookie WRs on the PS.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff had what, 8 or 9 OTA practices? He's had 5 or 6 training camp practices, with a fraction of the reps with the 1st team offense? How is he supposed to be ready to start right now? Can the kid at least have a full preseason before he's judged on how ready or behind he is?by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRamBillhe also had an inordinately high number of carries stuffed at the line. Twenty-three percent of the Rams rushes in 2015, per Football Outsiders, went for zero or negative yards. This is where an improved OL and better blocking at TE (i.e. the subtraction of Jared Cook...) could help. The Rams don't necessarily need more big runs. What they need is more of the -1 or -2 yard gains toby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
You don't need a true #1 or elite WR (however that's defined). Of course you do need someone to put up more than 700 yards... which the Rams have lacked for so many years. I would settle for a leading WR that gave them 60 catches and 900+ yards... I'd actually prefer a 70-catch TE to a "#1 WR" personally...by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com

While Kendricks is the starter- rightfully- if Higbee shows well he can earn plenty of work. The Rams run a lot of two TE sets. They did with Cook and Kendricks the past three years. Until Higbee shows he can run block his role will be more limited. They cannot afford another run blocking liability at TE (like Cook was).by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Los Angeles Rams head to camp with all eyes on QB Jared Goff The Los Angeles Rams open training camp July 27 at University of California-Irvine in Irvine, California. Here's a closer look at the Rams' camp, which will wrap up on Aug. 31. Top storyline: There's plenty to pick from here, including the team's return to Los Angeles after an absence of more than two decades. But for that retby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Well I guess then you'd have to see how that .595 stacks up against the other coaches in the league under that same scenario. I don't want Fisher gone. I like him. I wouldn't give him 4-5 years though either. Give him two. I just don't think you can judge a coach on ideal conditions because ideal conditions don't exist in the NFL. It's a war of attrition and teams have to adapt. My general opby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Record with his hand-picked QBs (Bradford and Foles): 14-19-1 (.426) With backup QBs (Clemens/Hill/Davis/Keenum): 13-17 (.433) He's actually slightly better with backups starting... And I believe the league wide win % with backup QBs in recent years is about .350. I can't explain it but it's interesting... By the way I believe he and Snead should get two-year extensions. So similar to Marino dropping in '83. if only Miami had passes on him in that draft the Rams could have taken him in the 2nd round....by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
That's true. He's caught 4.3 passes/game and 16.2 YPC over two years from Kyle Orton, EJ Manuel and Tyrod Taylor. I'd hardly have complained if the Rams had taken him. Though their big WR pick REALLY should have been DeAndre Hopkins in 2013...by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
.. But that also doesn't mean he starts week 1. And that's OK. He's had a total of 8 OTA practices and received some 1st team reps in the final 2-3 I believe. "Back in the day" teams would have been in training camp about 7-10 days by now. Camp is so short now- with no two-a-days- that even if he got all the 1st team reps from day one it may simply not be enough. I'm not saying he wby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I get the nostalgia about the Coliseum and I think it's cool that they're there for three years. But it's really not a great NFL stadium with the track, etc. making sight lines further away. And I have to say, having been to Dallas a few years ago it's pretty hard to describe just how impressive that place is.. It's something to see. And if the Rams can surpass that, well, wow...by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Really good stuff... As they look to 2017 it's really all about which of these guys they want to and feel they can retain long term. They have more time with Ogletree as he's signed through 2017 and they could franchise him in 2018 if they wanted. My hunch is McDonald will want to stay, but then I thought McLeod would too.. The other thing for 2016 is this is a huge year for Greg Robinsonby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Amen... This team has won games against upper tier teams every year but then also laid eggs vs a couple lesser teams. And that leads to 7-9.. I don't care if they win 42-30 or 9-3 but I want them being more consistent, winning the winnable games and also not losing their heads in a loss. To be honest if you look at their schedule I would call pretty much every game other than Carolina and Newby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree. it can go a few ways and most favor the Rams longer term. He can play really, really well and earn a bigger deal. They could decide to give it and they keep a premier CB. Or they don't and they get a 3rd round comp. pick in 2018. Like you said at the same time they further evaluate what they have in Gaines, Sensabaugh, Joyner, Roberson, etc. The only way they really lose leverageby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I like Ogletree and Barron a lot. Ayers is fine as a 3rd LB. My concern is whether they have anyone behind them that is anything more than a good special teams player. They might. They might not. That's something to watch in preseason.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I look at Goff and wonder if he can perform (statistically) reasonably on par with Winston and Mariota a year ago. Those two together averaged a QB rating of 87.2 and threw 41 TDs and 25 INTs in 28 starts. To me if Goff could produce a QB rating in the low/mid-80s with 20-22 TDs as a rookie it would be a big boost. You could argue that with Gurley and Austin that Goff may have more to work wiby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think the offense's epic awful 3rd down conversion rate was somewhat of a factor. Had to be. But I do agree losing Quinn and Ogletree was as big, maybe more. Ogletree was killing it those first four games and the Rams' pass rush was just not nearly as effective the 2nd half of the year without Quinn.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
...but personally if he had a really good 2016 I'd have no problem franchising him again for 2017 if needed. That would be for $16.7M. I'd rather overpay for one year than hand out a massive 5-6 year deal. And he'd earn $30.6M over those two years so he might not be against the idea himself.. Just my opinion.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
