this topic is more controversial. I know I have personally argued this point on the board a few times only to be told the board is the board and you should take the best player.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
on the dt. obviously they drafted AD so... Maybe i overvalued langford?by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
AD was obviously a very good player at PITT but clearly undersized by NFL standards. More times than not a guy his size flames out in the NFL. He was NOT considered a top 5 pick. Moreover, the rams had no real need for a DT at the time plus OBJ was still on the board. The pick reportedly came down to OBJ and AD. Drafting AD was no slam dunk. Finally, lots of players look like great picks onby PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
clearly you meant to say the triumvirate of snead, demoff and fisher/mcvay as done well overall. As you we "know" they use a consensus model to draft players so the success can not be solely attributed to snead.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
Tbh...I didnt love the Johnson pick but I'm glad I was wrong.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
did i say i KNOW any of that. i do KNOW however that no matter how well intentioned snead demoff and fisher/mcvay are, they (as well any other 3 humans) will inevitably see things differently given enough chances so the draft could not work as laid out in the media. imo the evidence is that coaches and other football personnel often dont reveal their true thoughts, sometimes for a competitive advantage and sometimes just to be nice. moreover, again imo, the consensus model you have laid out in the past may work occasionally but inevitably decision makers are going to disagree. either one person has the final say or potentially in case of a triumvirate (sby PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
i have no solid basis for this but just based on some of the things that snead said regarding watkins after the trade i got the feelng that he really wanted to draft watkins in 2014 instead of robinson.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
thats a bad one. austin too even tho i liked it at the time.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
i dont know how to measure "a player that played up to his draft status." its too subjective. in any event lets assume you are correct? you need a comparison group. How does snead compare to other gms? is bellick good? heres the 2016 patior draft. which one if any of these players have "played up to his draft status"? 2016 - NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS RD SEL # PLAYby PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
if two misinformed people are led to the same erroneous conclusion it doesnt make it right.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
i agree that the game seemed to have bypassed fisher and mcvay has the looks of a very good coach (albeit after one year) but to see that snead was a non-factor under both is imo...well...clueless.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
I found this to be an interesting interview specifically in regard to the Atlanta game. Personally I felt that losing Brockers at the end of the first half really hurt the rams. They could stop the falcons in the 2nd half. Snead confirmed those observations. I wonder if AO was particularly bad in that game and caused the rams to sour on him despite the extension.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
Well I agree that I would have franchised Watkins but losing him to kc was not devastating imo. Now losing a 1 in addition? I think that would be bad.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
watkins in exchange for dropping down from a 2 to a 3? QuoteSpeedball89 They screwed up not re-signing Watkins. Maybe on some planet trading a 2nd and a player for a 3rd is a good trade but the problem is this is Earth.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
if he can stay heathly hes a real good fit imoby PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
What prompts Benoit to say what he says? He claims to watch film. Is he lying? Is he an idiot? Does he have an axe to grind? How can 2 people looking at the same thing come to vastly different conclusions?by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
But likely not suh.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
not that he cant improve but lets dispel the myth that he was an inaccurate deep ball passer. in 2017, he had the 11th-best deep-ball passer rating (99.5) and amassed 767 yards on such passes, which also ranked 11th.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
It will be interesting to see what he eventually signs for.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm aware of both he and cosell and tbh I like their breakdowns. However I'm tired of being told by some to ignore highlights and look at "the TAPE". The tape means something but so do numbers. One informs the other. Moreover when one of those "tape people" tells me a highlight proves a point I'm sorry but I take offense at the inconsistency. If I come across aggressive too baby PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
people who live in glasses houses shouldnt throw stones. in terms of the highlights..it most certainly is one. i dont care what view it is, its a single play and probably Watkins best play as a ram. its a highlight by definition. 1 play does not demonstrate consistency. any nfl player can and likely does have 1 good play on tape. its not like baldy went threw all of watskins tape. a prodby PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
but i kinda feel bad for him. i liked him as a player.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
Its reasonable to assume they liked both players. I deep see either move as desperate. Desperate seems to imply that they ever paid. Given that the Pats have up roughly the same and Watkins was highly sought after in fa it seems as tho the price paid approximates the value of each player.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
argue against using highlights to prove point as well as listening to "talking heads"?by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
What part of 70 catches for 1000 yards and 8 TDs per year is it you dont like? Is it that his deep threat presence is a near perfect match for what mcvay wants for the position?by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
It likely depends whose available when they pick but I can see your scenario as well. Il just add that I agree finding a lt in the third is unlikely but a a good rt or swing tackle I think is doable. Btw there seem to be quite a few lt available in 2019 both in fa and the draft.by PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
moreover if you read between the lines their actions indicate as such. 1. they were more worried about a deep threat wr then a lb (outside or inside) hence the trade for cooks over say landry in the draft 2. why sign suh if you feel a strong need for lbs? they could have went after murphy AND gallette for the price of suh. 3. finally looking at the current roster, my guess is they go OT beby PHDram - RamsFootballFans.com
