We are not discussing the case in which the toe and heel come down at the same time, with part of the foot inbounds and part of the foot out of bounds. That is a clear-cut case in which the player should be ruled out of bounds. The case in question is when the toe comes down inbounds and then the heel comes down later out of bounds. That is what happened in the game, and it was ruled incomplete aby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
A possible answer is that the NFL puts people (such as Jeff Fisher) on committees to tweak the rules, and they feel that they have to come up with stuff like this to justify their existence.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
I think I know which third down play you were talking about. There was a play on the opposite sideline (from the TV camera's perspective). The receiver was hit and went out of bounds. The ref near the play initially marked it short of a first down, but then he looked up and moved the ball a little further up field to give them a first down. This seemed very unusual to say the least.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
On the long catch by Austin, it wasn't clear to me that the ball hit the ground. He had it in his hands. The ball bounced upward when Austin hit the ground, but did the ball hit the ground or was it a result of his hands hitting the ground? I couldn't tell, but it was reviewed correctly since there apparently wasn't sufficient evidence to overturn it. I would be the last person to go out of my waby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
On the interception by Johnson that was overturned, he got one foot in and then the toe of the other foot touched in bounds before the heel touched out of bounds. In my opinion, it is a stupid rule that this is not regarded as a legitimate interception. The NFL comes up with so many idiotic rules and phrases used to describe them, such as "tuck," "toe drag," and my favorite ofby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
They still had Bernie Casey (25), Irv Cross (27), and at least a few others who were gone by 1969. No Larry Smith who was a rookie in 1969.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
I remember that game well. It was 17-7 at the half.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
This is the kind of post that the admins keep saying will not be tolerated. My post was about the Rams. The response is an insult that has nothing to do with the Rams.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
I watched that match-up closely and went over it multiple times on the DVR. Johnson was unable to cover Evans, who repeatedly got open as if he were being covered by a DB that had just been signed off a practice squad.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
Johnson was repeatedly exposed as an average DB by being repeatedly beaten by Evans. It was reasonable to use the franchise tag to retain him for another year, but it would be a mistake to offer a big contract to such a player.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
...how clueless supposed experts on football can be. It was indeed clueless to go for two. One of the other examples of cluelessness that really stuck out in my memory is how to use timeouts late in games. On more than one occasion, I was watching a game in which the announcers commented on the use or non-use of timeouts when the opposing team had the lead and the ball late in a game. His toe was, indeed, inbounds when his first foot came down, but you are right -- his heel then came down and touched out of bounds.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
I was out of town over the weekend. So I am just getting to watch the game. A few observations so far: 1. It looked to me that Kendricks got both feet in bounds on the play late in the half just before Gurley scored. The toe of the first foot came down in bounds. It appeared that the heel would have been out of bounds, but it didn't appear to me that the heel touched the ground. The other footby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
For example, Vin Scully teamed up with George Allen to do the great Rams-Cowboys playoff game in 1979. It was Roger Staubach's final game, and the Rams won 21-19 on a long TD pass from Vince Ferragamo to Billy Waddy late in the fourth quarter. That game sent the Rams to Tampa for the NFC Championship and then on to SB 14.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
The Rams will continue their streak of games without scoring a TD, but they will win by hitting on seven field goals.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
Perhaps the most unbelievable statistic of the modern era (and perhaps even of any era) in the NFL is that the 1977 Tampa Bay Bucs failed to score a TD at home until the final game of the season. They actually only scored 3 points at home until their final game of the season. I don't know the record for most games at the start of the season (home and away) before scoring a TD, but the Rams mightby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
Two games into the season and the Rams have not yet found the end zone. Which end zone will they find first? Which of the following will happen first this season: 1. Score a TD? or 2. Get nailed in their own end zone for a safety?by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
The 53 yard pass could have easily gone all the way. Receivers often slip through such ankle tackles. That play was very close. The Rams would have lost 10-9 if Hill had not wrapped up on that tackle.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
They have perhaps the weakest group of wide receivers I have ever seen on any NFL team. Tavon Austin was a huge investment in terms of a high draft pick and a huge salary, but his production is laughably bad. In 2015, he was ranked 99th in total receiving yards and his average per catch of 9.1 yards was 119th. With a connection to Appalachian State, I doubt that any Rams fan had a greater interesby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
A good NFL defense should demolish a QB who dares to escape from the pocket and run right up the middle. This happened more than once, and it seemed to be one of the key factors in setting the tone for the game. Is this the responsibility of the MLB? How did it happen? It was beyond time for Laurinaitis to go, but the Rams should have started looking for a replacement long ago. It seems to me thaby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
