When Phil Olsen left as a free agent and signed with the Broncos...the Rams got two 1976 draft picks (3rd & 6th) as compensation and the rights to Otto Stowe... The sixth was used on RB Art Best...but there seems to be a bit of mystery regarding the 3rd round pick...The Rams only had one third round pick in 1976 and they spent that on Jackie Slater...Was that the comp pick for Phil Olsen?by JoeT13B - RamsFootballFans.com

Think about that...a Super Bowl contender in 2024...and the only first round draft picks are Matthew Stafford, Tre White, and Jared Verse.... And Stafford and White were drafted by other teams...Really impressive... By comparison...on this date in 1990...the Rams sent 3/58/1990 to the Detroit Lions for Chuck Long. The Lions selected WR Reggie Barrett, he played about ten games and changed caby JoeT13B - RamsFootballFans.com
...This was essentially the last Covid year...the talent pool will be thinner...and the Rams are confident that pick will land between 60-64...There's are always been a type the Rams have looked for under McSnead...this year we saw that on roids...I like the move and I like the subtle statement it makes...by JoeT13B - RamsFootballFans.com
Atwell's the only burner on the roster that's seen the field. I agree as a #4 he should do more in regards to special teams...but he's displayed good hands and explosiveness.... I still believe there's a role for him in 2024. In regards to special teams, I wonder if the modified kick-off rules put him back in play as a kick returner... Finally, I think the angst against Atwell has been Creedby JoeT13B - RamsFootballFans.com
I thoroughly believed they would take a receiver by the second day...and then as the third day got later...with so much talent in the pool...they held off until Whittington...It's the only conclusion I can come up with. Thanks for the comment and click. And yes, it is a bit of a roll of the dice.by JoeT13B - RamsFootballFans.com

Wide Receiver 213.) Jordan Whittington, Texas—6-1/204 Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, DeMarcus Robinson, Tutu Atwell, Ben Skowronek, Tyler Johnson, Xavier Smith. Drake Stoops—Oklahoma, J.J. Laap—Cortland, Sam Wiglusz—Ohio Thoughts: Waiting until the 6th round to take a WR tells us the Rams are confident about Kupp’s health. I still think there’s a role for Atwell in the last year of his contract. Whiby JoeT13B - RamsFootballFans.com

I ran a mock draft...because I don't like Latu (and I could be wrong)...I wanted to get an experienced NFL player....So I ran the mock and no one would trade with me...I finally got to the Colts...and they (the website's algorithm for the Colts) agreed to send me Kwity Paye, #46, #117, #191 in exchange for the Rams #19.... Realistic, unrealistic...I just want to know...if you would do that...oby JoeT13B - RamsFootballFans.com

On this day in 1975…The Rams acquired Tom Dempsey from the Eagles for a 4th round pick in 1976…The Eagles, four months later, traded that pick to the Green Bay Packers for a journeyman named Bill Lueck. In April of 1976…the Packers sent John Hadl, CB Ken Ellis, draft picks 3/66/1977…and 4/117/1976 to Houston for Lynn Dickey… The fourth round pick, that originally belonged to the Rams, turnedby JoeT13B - RamsFootballFans.com

Watched the pressers with Puka Nacua, Tre’Davius White, Ernest Jones, and Rob Havenstein… It’s overlooked, but since the start of the McSnead Era…Which is the arrival of Sean McVay and the maturing of Les Snead as GM…the Rams have developed this culture or pattern of having players you fall in love with. Happy Birthday to Mike Jones...His tackle in Super Bowl 34...for me...is the defensive equivalent of Stafford throwing his no-look to Kupp in SB 56...given the pressures of the moment... Great post....part of the reason I love this site...Your thoughts...your crystal ball...I don't think they were fully enamored with all that was on the market and the asking price (salaries) for the edge...I see a trade back to accumulate picks in a deep draft ...or, possibly, a big move with that #19 pick for an established edge.....and, yes, I would not rule out a QB if the opportunity presentsby JoeT13B - RamsFootballFans.com

I’ve mentioned that Mike McCallister is the only other center on the roster other than Steve Avila…but overlooked is Grant Miller…a member of the practice squad…he’s listed as a guard but he did play center at Vanderbilt, successfully, before transferring to Baylor.
