ESPN Rams depth chart now lists Rams starting LB's as Tony Fields II as the LILB and Omar Speights as the RILB. I guarantee this will not last and some changes are coming. Not dumping on Havs. He's had a great career with the Rams since he was drafted as a St. Louis Ram. But the reality is has been banged up the last couple of years and at age 32 and has no guaranteed money remaining on his contract and I doubt the Rams renegotiate another one so he will need to be replaced. Well now that we resigned Stafford the #1 priority now is to protect him. Without Stafford you can kiss any chance of the Rams going to the Super Bowl goodbye and that is our goal now right! Rams O Line is good but not elite! Weak links on the O Line currently are center and RT and backup depth. Why RT? I agree unless the Raiders offer a blockbuster trade with at a minimum a #2 in 2025 and a #1 in 2026 then the deal is off. This is the one and only time the Rams have had leverage in a big trade and a mistake here could set the organization back. If no quality trade is offered then offer Stafford a new contract that averages out to what he is asking for at $50M guaranteed for 2025 and $50M guaranby SoCalRamFan - RamsFootballFans.com

Actually the Rams hold the leverage. Rams owe Stafford nothing. He got all of his remaining guaranteed cash money advanced last year. Yes he will still count $49M against the cap in 2025 which hurts the team but if he retires and doesn't show up to camp he gets $0 of the $27M due on his contract from the Rams organization this year!by SoCalRamFan - RamsFootballFans.com

I already mentioned this in another post. Over the last 3 years Stafford has been paid out $130M in cash bonuses and guarantees. That averages out to $43.3M per year. Statistically among other QB's in the NFL he was ranked 13th in the NFL in 2024. Contractually Over The Cap ranks his NFL QB contract at 15th in the league at $40M per year. Yes these players risk injury but they are compensated handsomely for accepting the risk they take. No different than baseball players or race car drivers! I'm sure most who have played high school or college football would have continued their careers if given the opportunity. But wasn't Stafford already under contract in 2022 with his old Lions contract the Rams inherited? Then he signed a 4 year extension. So the new 4 year contract extension was actually for seasons 2023-2026 even though he received his signing bonus in 2022. It was posted on Instagram that the Rams are eligible to release new uniforms this season! According to NFL rules, a team must wait 5 years after releasing its uniforms before making another redesign. Since the Rams have done a great job at drafting the last couple of years and have even found talent in the lower rounds I would rather they just stick with drafting to build the roster instead of trading away picks. We may never know the full truth but Avila was injured and never got settled in at center and even when they moved him back to left guard he didn't look right at the beginning of the season. Wasn't until he had the surgery on his knee and returned from IR that he started returning back to form. Jonah it seems still hadn't recovered from his injury with the Lions and was damaged goods. In game 1 against the Eagles both Rams offensive and defensive lines got dominated. Biggest difference between Eagles D Line and Rams D Line is Jalen Carter! He is just a monster in the middle of that D line that can stop the run, push the pocket and rush the passer! Rams found that out the hard way! Rams need to find a JC clone on D! The Jonah Jackson situation is a critical chess piece for the Rams offense this year. He's already signed on a guaranteed contract. Cutting or trading him would hurt the Cap dollars. If he's 100% healthy and can get back to Pro Bowl performance at center Limmer can sit back and be a valuable backup and learn for a year or two. The NFL is a copycat league. And after what Saquon Barkley did for the Eagles the search is on for the next super star RB! I just hope once and for all the Rams find their RB of the future and also build a dominant O Line! For one it would extend Stafford's career. How do we get out of this tail spin? Right now it looks like the LA Rams organization made a monumental mistake resigning Donald, Kupp and Stafford to long term big money contracts with guaranteed money taking up the majority of the cap space available for the next 2-3 years.
