A Fond Rams Memory From A Lurker - 10 days ago
It seems like a million years ago, but this happened many Sunday mornings during the 1960's football season when the Rams were playing at home in the Coliseum. I would get dressed and head out to the Rams Horn restaurant for lunch. No More Sunday Ticket For Me - 5 weeks ago
I've been a customer of Sunday Ticket for years because I can afford it and it is convenient. However, when you consider the increasing number of games NFL now schedules on early Sunday from Europe, on Sunday night, on Monday night, and on Thursday night, there are now too-few games remaining on the schedule for Sunday Ticket to offer on an exclusive basis. However, the team will improve week to week as the season progresses and their young talent gets more experience. My daughter was invited to attend a gala fundraiser, hosted by the Rams, and held at the Lake Sherwood Country Club near Thousand Oaks. (Her good friend's father is a wealthy Rams fan and a generous contributor to Rams charities. He paid for two tables and invited my daughter.) When people post about next year's roster, I have this thought: Every time the Rams' "stars" are mentioned, the name Robinson is included. Now I'm not anywhere near as football sophisticated as most of my fellow posters, but it seems to me that, in the games that Robinson has played for the Rams, he has been a huge disappointment. I just got off the phone and yes, they came through again. It's just that, even with this discount, the cost of DirecTV is very high because we subscribers are nickel-and-dimed with other charges and they really add up. Dickerson held out. The Rams gave in and gave him a raise. But part of his new conrtract said that he would not hold out again (got that info from Jim Healy). Nevertheless, he did hold out a second time, and now that Rams said enough and traded him. Pardon me, folks, but I believe in the sanctity of contracts. I find it difficult to remember a prevent defense used by the Rams or any other NFL team where the opposing team was "prevented" from marching down the field in increments until, at least, they reached the Red Zone. I remember a game against Green Bay in the 1960"s. The Rams were trailing with less than a minute to go, and the Packers gained possession. At that time, my friend and I believed things were hopeless so we left the stadium to beat the crowd. While walking to our car, we heard a loud roar from inside the stadium. Made my annual call to DirecTV Retention Dept. (also called Loyalty Support Dept) threatening to drop the service unless they discounted NFL Sunday Ticket. In past years they always came through with something. Last year they gave me a huge discount which made Sunday Ticket virtually free. This year no dice -- so far. No discounts available, they say.
