Regular season should be done on August 1st. Baseball is a warm / hot weather sport. The quality of play drops in cold weather....IMO Also, I bet MANY are like me.....Interest in MLB nose dives once football starts.
As I have griped about numerous times before...Baseball is broken in so many other ways........ Fundamentals flat out SUCK these days!! It's ALLLL about the long ball. Cannot recall the last time I saw a hit n run executed. Batters loafing to 1st base on grounders makes me CRINGE! Batters with 137 pieces of gear that need adjusting after every pitch..... 5-9 Pitching changes in a game with endless commercials between each one.
But back to the schedule... I think a shorter season would also make the regular season much more exciting. I mean...under the current format, you can have a 6-7 game skid and still easily make the Playoffs. Games are just sorta ho hum till after the All star Break.
