I might try to bust out the zoom and tripod tonight.. I dunno if its the same with a telescope, but zooming in on a dot in the sky is a total PITA with a zoom lens.. I try to zoom out, get it in frame and zoom in, but it always goes out of frame.. then its a case of moving the lens 1/16" of an inch makes the planet go out of frame thousands of miles.. it pure poppycock..
