now I hear the new Microsoft FS may have topped it... benefits to both... as I understand...

X Plane is the most realistic... in just about every way - controls but also navigation, flight communication, etc.

MS FS supposedly has the best graphics, IOW the most realistic looking.

Frankly.. if the two are close as far as being realistic in flying characteristics I think I'd opt for the graphics... like I said, if I do this it's for recreation and NOT actual flight training.
