We replaced the condenser and inside stuff..

but not the ducts.. so, everything you need, but the ducts.. we have a 1600 sq. foot house.. we spent about $3500 total, but that was 4-5 years ago.. ducts are gonna be a major headache to replace, I would think.. Maybe you could just get your existing ducts cleaned out? That ain't cheap, either, but probably a LOT cheaper than replacing them.. I'd be terrified of replacing ours..
