Whenever I load a vid on youtube it always asks me if I wanna add ads to it - I guess I might make a few cents on it, somehow? I always say "no" cuz sitting through ads is annoying, so don't wanna subject my viewers to it.. but, half the time I play one of my vids, youtube has added ads to them, anyways, and I don't see a cent of it.. So, I honestly think youtube is a scam in that regard.. plus they've gotten to be huge censors of content, regardless of what it is..
