My sister has the biggest sweet tooth I've ever known anyone to have. She added sugar, and I mean heaps of it, to Frosted Flakes.
A couple years ago I made some limoncello, remember that? I made 3 batches labeled, "Very Sweet", "Sweet", and "Tart". Can't remember the amounts of sugar I added but the Very Sweet was full strength sugar... the Sweet was half of the Very Sweet, and the Tart was 1/10th of the Very Sweet.
When it was ready... it took about 6 months?, the first I tried was the Very Sweet. It was ok, but Very Sweet is an understatement. Not for me. The "Sweet" was to me, again, very sweet. Fact is I couldn't tell much difference between the Very Sweet and the Sweet even though the latter had half the sugar. Again, not for me.
Lastly I tasted the Tart... this was very good to me. You could really taste the 'lemons'... but, it was definitely sweet... which a liqueur is supposed to be. It got my thumbs up.
Finally to point.. which do you think most people liked? I shared it with many... perhaps as many as 50 different people? Maybe more than that. (I made a LOT of it). Answer: The VERY Sweet. With a few of the people I did a 'blind test'... seeing if they could taste the difference between the Very Sweet and the Sweet, and they could, every single one of them could. I could not. None liked the Tart, my favorite... which was very cool, more for me. - JamesJM
