38 years ago tonight, I SURVIVED a football game. The 1983 Gator Bowl.

Florida vs Iowa. I was in 11th grade. It was my first Gators game in person. 38 years later, STILL the coldest I have ever been in my life!! Wind chills by game's end were around 12-15 degrees. Tame by Northern standards but I was NOT dressed accordingly. Hell...While in USAF Fire Protection School at Chanute AFB, Ill, we had 2-3 days of temps with wind chills around -5 but I was dressed for it. We got in our seats about 15 minutes before kickoff and all I thought was......OH SH**!! I was already shivering. My Dad CRACKED UP when we stood for the National Anthem and I fell into the guy in front of me. I could NOT feel my feet. To make it worse.....At the Half, Dad sent me to get Coffee. I also had to pee. It took me several minutes to do so because my hand were numb. THEN...I find they were OUT OF COFFEE!!! I recall the Gators won but the game was a FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR second to the experience. Till my Dad passed in 2013, it was always our measuring stick for cold weather.
