Yes, to watch both of my daughters compete. My youngest still swims, although the last two years have been a wash due to covid.
I have observed all the things you mentioned above…maybe not quite as much of the body writing other than the schedule.
The one thing that I would add is that the heat at a meet can be unbearable at times. Several times I have gone to winter meets where it was well below freezing outside, wearing only shorts and a t-shirt because I knew that I was I for a long day and night at the pool.
