You couldn't just shoot them in the head because of the armor. Mrs. Abbott figured out that the feedback from the machine (radio, or whatever it was) confused or agitated them in some way that caused their armor to involuntarily open up and make them vulnerable. The suggestion at the end was that the others were coming, but she knew she had figured out how to defeat them and was ready to destroy them. That at least was how I interpreted it.
I don't remember any mention of how many there were or where they were. I was reviewing on IMDB and a post said a brief shot of some newspaper articles suggested multiple landings all around the world. I missed that part, but it's just like me to gloss over some details like that and not notice.
My thought (because I like to shoot) was, how many are there and does she have enough shotgun shells around? Because obviously it's not going to be as easy as running to your local Academy and buying more shells if you run out.
I only recently found out there is a 2. I'd like to see it. I assume Krisinsky is not in it, but is Blount?
