Two of the funniest things I've ever read....

both come from National Lampoon Magazine.

I'll have to paraphrase both because these come from many many year's ago.

The first - "Scientists report finding the long time elusive neutrino. Prof. Smith is quoted as saying, "It was right here all this time, under the chair by the water cooler.""

And the Second -

"Scientists reported today that they have shot and killed the last 60 Whooping Cranes in existence saying, "To hell with it, we give up". - JamesJM
