IMO you really need to take out a piece of paper and make 2 lists. 1 list comprised of things you enjoy, things you like, and things you need. List 2 things you don't like about where you are, how/why it got that way. Take both lists and look for places that don't look they will trend towards list 2. Then look at those area(s) and see what matches up most with list 1.
It's a big thing to just up and go, I wouldn't really take anyones ideas as yours as far as liking an area, many are simply biased one way or another by their own ideas of what's good/bad.
