I read some negative reviews about the movie being too short...lack of character developement etc etc. I think it did a GREAT job of simply being in the C.O.'s (Hanks) shoes and simply showing the split second reactions a C.O. HAD to know. As a WWII buff, it was cool to see, FINALLY, a movie that covers the Atlantic Convoys and German Wolf Packs.
By the way, when he was a small boy, my Dad met a few captured German U Boat crewmen who had been captured, simply walking down Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach AFB had a rather large POW camp and my Dad lived literally 500 yards from the base fence.
