I would never, ever serve cheesecake or pie or anything that wasn't a true "cake-y" dessert made with flour, sugar, eggs, and had icing! Not sure why someone would even choose a cheesecake unless they truly loved it over all over desserts. When Kara got married and we were deciding on what kind of cake... we tried to think of a real cake and cake flavor that the majority of guests might like, NOT just what the marrying couple liked. I can't remember now what kind of cake we chose but all 3 layers were different flavors and the flavors weren't anything weird or outlandish. It was a cake to feed about 70 people and it cost $350.
Cheesecake is one of those specific desserts that not all people like. I think some people might even find it a turn-off at a wedding and skip it altogether.
Even so... it sure turns up as THE wedding dessert of choice for some people.
