I know, that's not possible to answer... too many variables.
A.J. Foyt and Mario Andretti always amazed me - because both could jump into any type of race car and immediately win. From a Go-Kart to Indy Car to Sprint Cars you name it.
I've always favored open wheel racing so I'm a little biased in that way... but I'm sure there are many NASCAR drivers that could have driven Indy, (many did), and even F1. And reverse... you know that Lewis could drive NASCAR, INDY.. maybe even sprint cars.
About my "open wheel bias"... it wasn't NASCAR that actually drew me to that style of racing.. it was Rambeau long ago talking to me about Mid-Ohio.. and as an example the Rolex Series. I eventually went to see them at Laguna Seca and was blown away... some of the best racing, and driving, I've ever seen. - JamesJM
