I agree with you totally. A good follow up to that movie would be Judgment at Nuremberg. There you have the defense of "we didn't know" and the retort by Dr. Ernst Janning-"how could we not know". Especially the final scene in Dr. Janning's cell between Spencer and lancaster.
As you might gather from my views, it is my opinion that in many ways history is in fact trying to repeat itself.
