ACTUALLY!!!!

September 15, 2020 04:54AM
I found it to be very roomy. I am 6'5" and was very comfortable. But...... Had the gun been deployed, it might have been different. What was really cool was I did this flight about a week before Midway was released. The scene where the Gunner lifts out of his seat? YEAH! I got that! I was strapped in but could feel myself lifting on dives and turns. When we did the real hard turns and dives, I had the canopy closed (I could hear the Pilot much better) Those dives were a HOOT!! But.....While simply flying to and from the airport (15-20 min each way), I slid the canopy open. The grin in my picture was not for the camera. It stayed on my face. Simply cruising with the air rushing in was when I thought of all the fellas at Midway and WWII in general. I will NEVER forget it!
