the setup I'm considering is not VR.
Actually.... on MS Flight Simulator I almost always flew by instruments.... right to the point of touchdown. BUT yes, absolutely, VR would be great to simply explore the world. Google Earth kind of does that.... but I haven't used it very much, as yet.
Hard to explain but there is something very satisfying to me to take a plane up... completely on instruments, and take a cross country flight landing at a remote airport and not having seen the ground for the entire flight.
