Not sure what heavy duty 4 wheeling really is. If your speaking of driving in heavy duty snow conditions they are most likely better. The reason is that large trucks tend to have big tires that are much wider than a typical SUV. What one needs in such conditions is a thinner-in terms of width-so as to cut threw the snow and down into the hard pack for a grip. If your speaking of mud and or rocky conditions (i.e, boulders) a large truck with big tires is better. I have a friend who has -get this-3 Ford Raptors which is a 150 on steroids that he bought for who knows what. It probably will do fine going over boulders, etc but he has yet to do that. I will say this: His wife owns a ranch in Wyoming just outside of Cody. On a visit, a year ago this time,I had to pull him out of a snow bank with my Highlander (AWD) for the very reason above.
