Funny I remember that but I do... it's what my Dad paid for his new custom built home back in 1958. At the time it was quite a home, I should add. I think 2,600 sq ft which back then was considered a mansion around these parts.
Now why am I mentioning that? I just got an estimate for all new countertops... and tile in two bathrooms... the estimate came too: $39,000.
So it fell into the category I put many things in today.... "THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS... NO CHANCE". Which means:
I'll be the only person in California with plain tile countertops and showers instead of granite. The good news is:
I can live with that, and quite easily to boot. Yup... I won't shed a tear... this post will be the last time it crosses my mind. - JamesJM
