Nice 7's.....

I owned 4 TRs...

My 1st Triumph was a 1963 TR4. I met a college student, who played rugby for our HS football coach.. I met the studentthrough our coach......... The student owned the disabled TR4 and found out that I was in HS autoshop, thus he asked me if I could get the car started. At that time, I was only familiar with TR6s and had never heard of a TR4. We pushed that car from his college campus to my autoshop class and we got it started, even with the crazy positive ground and old generator / regulator...no alternator in those days.......... I never gave it back to the student and eventually bought it... It was black with wide 60's, padded roll bar... fantastic looking car but needed too much work and was very unreliable.. I eventually sold it 2 years later and bought a 1974 TR6. (BTW, I sold the TR4 to a buddy of mine who was a decent mechanic, and he restored it.... unfortunately, he wrecked it racing around Lexington Reservoir..... too bad, he did a great job with the car, it was beautiful.....

The 74 TR6 I bought was Sapphire blue... it wasn't perfect but much more reliable, this was probably my favorite car that I owned.... , but not reliable enough for me to own that age...back in 1983, it was tough to find parts and when you did, it was expensive.... so I sold it in 1985.... then during the mid 80's my brother and I would buy TRs clean them up and re-sell them to make a few $$...

Then years later in 1991 I bought a yellow TR6 for $2500... i wasn't a fan of the color, but the car was very clean, had overdrive and ran great,... then we had kids and I sold it for $8000 in 1997....

Then in 2000, i bought this TR4 from the original owner...it was cherry... the seller was asking $3600 for it... when my wife and i drove up to Santa Rosa to see the car the seller told me that he was getting bombed with calls and felt that he had under priced it and asked if would pay $4K for it... I said, well i have to see it.... when he opened the garage door, i couldn't believe how clean it was... i test drove and had no problem giving him his new asking price...

My plan was to turn and sell it right away, but it was just too clean thus I had planned on keeping it for life......

I loved that car...but... with 2 additional kids being born, i couldn't justify keeping it and sold it for $12,500 to some guy in Santa Rose who knew the original owner.

I will eventually buy another TR6 when i get my kids though college in about 5-6 more years.... hopefully i can find another Sapphire blue one.....
