Is the NFL Package different than the ST ? Because I thought only Direct TV owned the NFL Package-where you can get every game -the entire game. Also Make sure you have something in writing that Spectrum will pay your cancellation fees besides their advertisements-although I'm not sure how one does that. . I'm doubtful but could be wrong about some other company picking up your cancellation fees-unless of course you agree with them as to a similar duration agreement and increase after a year. These guys are too smart to give away money that they could otherwise be earning. Also keep in mind in two or three years the ST may not even be available given the streaming focus now and in the future. "Television" is rapidly changing every day. If the WSJ is correct what we will be watching in the future is something that won't resemble what we watch today-in terms of the devices.
I guess I'm always suspicious of guys claims of getting bargains from Direct TV. I had the NFL Package (offered on Direct TV) when the Rams moved to St. Louis. At some point I read the contract and thought "how stupid of me". But it was the only way I could watch the Rams in St. Louis.
One thing about Direct TV: They care less about repeat customers-so arguing that you are a long time customer doesn't concern them. What they care about are the brand new customers. These for reasons above are like accounts receivables and THAT is what investors look for. The long time customers can usually just cancel without consequences whereas the new ones are secured by contract. Those "accounts receivables" are what bands and lenders look at when the company needs investment money. And the larger investment portfolios the more interest by stakeholders.
One last thing about Direct TV. When AT&T purchased them if you were an AT&T customer-which we are for our cell phones, etc-they gave you the NFL Package totally free. However, to get that they made you agree to continue with your cell phone with AT&/t for a certain period of time. So no gets anything "free".
