with headphones, or earbuds, I prefer good bass because its tougher to get good bass with earbuds.. So, I'd definitely go with the Beats if they have better bass.. I have an iPod - haven't used it in 2 years - but I bought a set of earbuds for them that were supposed to:

A) have great bass
not fall out of your ears

The bass wasn't as great as I was hoping for, but they do stay in place.. Now I just gotta find them to see what brand they were.. Ok - found 'em.. no name on them.. I remember they were made by an individual who stuck a capacitor or condenser or compressor in them to get better bass.. I remember thinking he still has a little work to do on them... So, I might go get me a pair of Beats and check out the low end...
