are and should be up to each and every users individual needs. IMO each individual should have simple and doable choices to accommodate as many of those viewers needs as possible. With todays modern and vast choices for communication, high end equipment, entertainment possibilities and services there is no reason why there shouldn’t be choices available for everyone.
The reason for my opinion stating here and that’s what this is, a personal opinion I once again use some time and space to rant about sports broadcasts and that means all tv sports that force over paid IMO arrogant and egotistical announcers down our throats and I mean all sports broadcast not just the NFL.
Some users out there like sports broadcast (even with the IMO intrusive announcers) just the way they are and that’s fine, each monkey to their own rope.
I personally can’t think of one tv sports broadcast scenario that doesn’t include talking heads continually jabbering, injecting opinion, telling the viewer each and every action even though we the audience have tons of graphs info ticker banners scrolling across the bottom of the screen, timers and always on notifiers that relay game info constantly without interruption. Why the need to have them the talking heads repeat everything we see on screen the entire game?
That’s fine if some enjoy that format but IMO every person should be offered the option and it made available to shut them the hell off!
I play a lot of video games on my Xbox One and most every game made today has very simple to use settings you can simply adjust and set to your personal preferences in a matter of minutes.
When I get a new game (mostly racing or FPS games) I go into the settings feature and spend the first 15 minutes or so after loading that game on my Xbox One’s HD and then I manually turn off some of the most annoying and distracting features in the game, namely the music and most importantly the announcers voices.
After a very short time with those features left on they’re just like watching a live RAMS game for me personally, they get very annoying and unnecessary.
All I’m saying is I’m curious about why with all the features available in tv settings, cable and DTV service settings there are not some simple audio setting features available to help the mass of users enjoy the services more who no doubt have different preferences and needs.
Is there some contractual lock on viewers having to listen to unwanted annoying input?
When the RAMS moved to LA I said, cool, now maybe I’ll get to see some preseason games and it came true, I saw all 4 games live this year and being almost 200 miles from LA this was the first time in over 20 years I’ve seen more than one Preseason game especially live games.
The bad thing about having the luxury of seeing the games this year was being forced to listen to the obnoxious, non concerned, never ending clowning and non professional jabbering of Faulk, Dickerson and the biggest mouth of them all Sicilano.
I literally had to turn the volume down to nothing in this last game for most of the 3rd and 4th quarters. How wonderful, that left this fan with no natural and awesome crowd noise, no realistic football on field sounds, no referee announcements but at least it took the annoying distraction of the announcers out.
The only obnoxious thing I couldn’t control was having to look at Sicilioano’s stupid clowning face pressed up against the camera when they went into the booth.
I would in a heart beat (if I had a choice) pay for versatile and simple audio features that have become common practice and so appreciated with modern gaming, why is it so freakin hard to include this luxury within the audio settings we have within our tv providers services right now????
End of rant.
