So, at least you didn't burn the house down.. which, technically, would have only made it hotter in the house..

Hopefully you can get that fixed quickly.. Ours used to go out yearly - we finally had enough and replaced the whole system last year... Much more efficient system and has practically paid for itself already... Good luck!
