There are a lot, dare I say most?, of Ram fans following Detroit, rather Goff. Every game, all stats. I get that... I did the same with many Ram's who moved on to other teams... but not Goff. I have absolutely nothing against Goff but for whatever reason he never reached the level of devotion I developed for others - like Bruce, Warner.... ED, Ellard... there are many.
I do, however, follow two other teams very closely... and I've mentioned why before. They are favorites of my grandsons.... Denver and the Chargers. It's great watching both thru their eyes and yes, I do get passionate about them during their games as long as they aren't facing the Rams.
For me Gabriel is the first I remember having truly mourned the loss of. That killed me... and in the ensuing years lots of others joined the list.
I've also mentioned before that most likely my favorite all time player is Merliin Olsen.... couple of reasons... MOST importantly I liked him as a person. No, never got to know him personally but I did speak with him many times. Secondly every pro game he ever played he had Horns on his helmet. An entire career with one team is extremely rare these days, no? And I mean somewhat of a long career, obviously.
I wish there existed a way these days to hang on to their legends... but I have no idea how that could be done.... 10+ year Vet's salaries don't count against the cap? Too radical? In the end it's one of those bygone era things that I sorely miss and is not coming back. - JamesJM
