My struggle. As a life long fan of the Rams I find it extremely difficult if not impossible to
not watch the team or attend games at the Coliseum. It seems to be a part of me every since my first Ram Coliseum game in 1946. So many heroes and so many exciting memories.
And yet today I wonder how much I contribute to what is becoming an increasingly violent sport that endangers the lives and futures of participants. I still buy tickets, hats and jerseys and watch Ram games on TV routinely. Do I even care what happens to these young men as long as it's exciting to me? Yet I don't do so innocently-I know what's going on down on the field and it's not pretty when you consider the future of these players. OTOH I understand that for most of the players it is their only way to see any type of financial security given where they come from.
So its a struggle. And one that I suspect will continue. Growing up I never bothered to even think about the dangers. But like many things -as we advance we continue to learn about things we never considered in the past.
