for those who enjoy youth sports and especially ice hockey. "Bear Town" is about a struggling small town in the forests of Sweden. The town has been on the downside for several years and the junior ice hockey team -made up of 15-17 yr olds-is in danger of losing most all of its sponsors. One skater is truly great and likely headed to the NHL. Its about the personal struggles with the adults and the dangers of an overly invested adult society in the success of our young athletes.
While it is a book of fiction it contains many lessons for us all. The author is the same author who wrote "A Man Called Ove" .( Fredrik Backman) I thought that book was the best fiction I had ever read-until I read "Bear Town".
