google it, it's on most news sites. And before you read it... I'll spoil it for you - chances are slim to none but it's still intriguing.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... personally, I can't think of a bigger event than discovering life elsewhere in the universe. As you know I do not believe in UFO's, or Bigfoot, or The Bermuda Triangle... but I love reading about those things because it's romantic to do so... no different than reading a good scifi novel. I also like, very much, and for the most part, people who do believe in those things. I do NOT consider them foolish in the least. Part of me, in fact, envies them.
But extraterrestrial life? Yes, that I think almost certain, while allowing for a very small chance that we're alone. Very small chance of that, IMHO.
And where the hell has SeattleRam been? He loves this stuff, just like me.
The sun system where this signal was detected is somewhat close.... 94 lights year. Practically a neighbor. But still... if the signal is an 'intelligent' signal it means, of course, that it was sent before I was born. Waterfield may have been around, however.
I guess that means if the signal is 'video' then it will be in B&W, but with a very nice jingle. And there is the chance the aliens will have medusa qualities and turn anyone who see them into stone.. or maybe green cheese. They'll have to test it on Canadians first... I think would be wise. Maybe some denizens of Sussex County in Delaware. Me and my neighbors in the boondocks of Ca. would have to be promised photos of beer or large breasted women or we couldn't be bothered.
So if it was to turn out legit? I dunno, what do you think? - JamesJM
