Smart guy but says some really stupid stuff at times. Use to work with a engineer who was like him. This guy kept a pad and paper next to his bed because he would wake up in the middle of the night with ideas and write them down.
But like most inventors they have dozens or even hundreds of ideas but only a hand full of them ever pan out. The difference with Musk is he has the money to try to bring them all to reality. Many of his ideas that he says will happen in the next few years are decades away. I know he says he will put men on Mars in five years but that's likely not going to happen in his lifetime.
