It's hot....

no surprise - the air conditioner on the south side of my home, (bedrooms), went out two days ago. Immediate call to the repairman was placed BUT.... I'm not the only one with a malfunctioning air conditioner. So the last two nights I've been trying to open the windows and run our whole house fan. It's not working very well.... the reason being: At 10pm last night it was still over 90º.

maybe some good news? They are saying that tomorrow we'll have about a 15º drop in our high... mid 90's.... which would be FANTASTIC and probably feel like winter! If the temp doesn't drop and the repairman can't make it I think I'm headed to my daughter's home tonight because I can't handle another night like last night. I'm a weenie....

how the HELL did we survive the 50's and most of the 60's without air conditioning? I may put in a swamp cooler for these emergencies. Do they still make those?
