Interesting how more movies have so many entities to Produce?

My Wife just started watching "The Circle" on Netflix and I counted FIVE Production Companies. Used to be a movie would start with United Artists, Universal etc etc. Now we see several. "The Circle" even has one with Dubai listed in one of the Production names. I assume that's to split Production Costs?? Heck, the last Midway movie had a Chinese Production included.
