Back then, they had those old school engines that made a VERY Erie growl. I remember being between two overhangs by our Barracks and heard that creep sound. It was a gray day. I look up and see this FREAKISHLY large plane fly over the gap between the overhangs. Looked like it was barely moving. A few days later, we were all on the PT / Parade lot. Our T.I. was talking to us when we heard...THAT SOUND. While we were SUPPOSED to have our attention towards the TI, we all started looking up at the C-5. Our T.I. BARKS.....FLIGHT 181!!!! TEEEEEEEN HUT!!!! You wanna effing look at planes?? We're gonna look at planes!!!! HEADS UP!!!!! We all had to stand there, at attention, with heads up for 10 minutes. Lemme tell ya. That hurts the neck! Lackland AFB is literally across a street from Kelly AFB, where the C-5 s flew.
