A-team in outer space? Maybe a little like Guardians of the Galaxy? I've read a lot of Sci-fi over the years and have never had characters and the interaction between them I enjoy as much as in this series.
Another series I can recommend is The Lost Fleet series by Jack Campbell (14 books). Really unique in that the thing that makes it page turner, at least for me is the authors ability to describe these epic space battles in 3-D, taking into account the the time it take light to travel between two fleets closing on each other.
