When I first moved into my house 30 years ago, my kids were in pre-school and 3rd grade. I think there are around 300 houses in my sub-division, 30 of them are on the hill where I live. Back then there were about 42 school-age kids in our immediate neighborhood. All those kids are grown-up and gone now. As houses have been bought and sold over the years, there are now about 1/2 dozen school-age kids living in the same houses on the same hill but you never see any of them playing outside. You'd never know that there are 2 teenagers and 2 elementary school age kids living on my street because they never come outside. Sad, but it seems to be the world we live in.

We don't hand out Halloween candy anymore and haven't done so in years.
