This is because there is help available for him there, you can bump and rub with LBs or safeties or double up.
When you are a boundary corner help is harder to come by. Rams are miscasting Kendrick by using him outside the hash.
Troy Hill needs to be our slot corner, he is much quicker and is rated as a top 10 slot corner...Hopefully Rams can keep him around or draft his replacement
Agree DK is physical enough in run support, but I don't want him covering slot receivers ...His 4.87 speed isn't going to cut it..he doesn't have the quickness or athleticism to keep up with shifty slot receivers.
He is miscast in this defense imo...He does not do well in off coverage, he almost needs to be in press man with his physicality with safety help...He was our worst corner this year, but he is still a young rookie who will be better for a year like this one...but he is depth imo
The one complication with the slot is that sometimes you want a guy who can beef up the box if he's a good tackler. That has been one of the reasons Ramsey gets rolled in there. That and protecting him vs certain wideout groups. Kendrick does have good physicality, i.e. ability to put hands on the wideout, which becomes more usable inside.
Point is that whether Kendrick can survive in the slot or not
that is where he must play. Period. His speed issue is even more glaring outside the hash. Which is why I said Kendrick or Hill must be the slot options in the original post that 43 quoted.
Morris has these guys playing in the wrong spots. Again this is the theme of the post.
