One of my closest friends, quite a character, he's a 'legend' around here... loved him with all my heart BUT....
He switched 'favorite teams' yearly.
Whoever was winning was his favorite team.... and then he would deny he switched and had in fact been a fan all along. And he would do this with a straight face... it was rather amazing.
I often wonder if he was the inspiration for that pathological liar character played by Jon Lovitz.
