There are a lot of hits and misses in the draft and beginning in the 3rd round misses begin to increase. Yet I wonder about how quickly McVay kicks guys to the curb. Hendo carried this team for a while as our only feature RB. Lewis made some great plays last season. I don't like how quickly McVay dumps guys who have proven to have talent, especially in the midst of a difficult season. It casts McVay in a poor light. Again I wonder if it is his ego doing his thinking rather than an objective and rationale approach.
BTW, I'm still a strong McVay supporter, and I'm delighted he's here and want him to stay.
Two things.
First, by 3rd round teams that hit on 30% are considered exceptional.
Second, while I agree that McVay has his faults, I don’t agree that he pulls plugs on players too quickly. Hendo, for example, has already been released by his second team and nobody has picked him up. McVay made a good eval and call on Hendo and other teams apparently share his concerns.
I actually admire Rams willingness to recognize when they’ve made personnel mistakes and move on.
