Interesting to see how many of the teams that have brought back the run have coaches that are from the McVay coaching tree...O'Connell, Waldron, etc. I think McVay misjudged the change...exemplified by fact that Rams have 0 blocking tight ends and his innovation for the run game has been a wide receiver playing fullback. Moreover, McVay focused on smaller backs that are useful in passing game and so the Rams lack a big back that can move the pile. I do think it was natural for McVay to continue with his scheme, since the Rams just won the Super Bowl with it! Hard to change when you have been incredibly successful.
