i actually believe it.
my guess is that they didn't pull the trigger on the single 2027 6th or 7th round pick from multiple teams that were offered is because they couldn't reel in a rb of worth from another team before the trade deadline.
so they gambled on mending the relationship and akers rounding back into form.
i think the probability of what they're gambling on is quite low but it's a better chance than letting akers go and having nothing in return this year.
