Yes, he’s an elite playmaker but he certainly didn’t come cheaply. Rams now have more draft capital and cap dollars to help long term starting next offseason.
Plus, there’s CMC’s injury history. It’s a real factor that had to enter into the equation. If he stays healthy then 49ers look like geniuses, although minus some serious draft capital.
But if CMC gets hurt and misses significant games then 49ers will be considered reckless and targets of ridicule.
As to Burns? I think that’s another dodged bullet. The Panthers saved Snead from himself.
While I’m at it, I wasn’t crazy about acquiring Hunt. I suspect that the current Hunt is overrated.
