Whether or not you believe in the ability of LA Rams offensive center Brian Allen to turn the ship around for the team’s offensive line and, in the process, for the team’s offensive output, this is his moment to do so. And if there was ever a moment that could propel Brian Allen’s standing with Rams fans, that moment is now.

The LA Rams are emerging from an early BYE week. But it was fortuitous timing. After all, the Rams roster has been completely decimated in just the first six weeks of the young 2022 NFL season. Perhaps no unit has been battered more than the LA Rams offensive line. The Rams have already suited up 10 players to play on the offensive line. In 2019, the LA Rams played 11 players on the offensive line that entire season.

So the LA Rams line of scrimmage needs some cohesion, lots of communication, and leadership. So far this season, offensive tackle Rob Havenstein has done what he can. But he is all the way out at the tackle spot. The real action on the Rams’ offensive line is focused on the center. And starting center Brian Allen is coming back.

The Rams need a Game 7 victory

We know that the LA Rams need a win in Game 7, perhaps one of the most important games so far this season, and even for the rest of the season. If the Rams lose, their hopes to win the NFC West Division are all but gone, as they will fall behind the San Francisco 49ers and have an uphill battle to return to .500+ football this season.

But the path to the playoffs for a non-divisional winner from the NFC West is getting steeper and more treacherous as well. With the tough competition in the NFC East and a resurgence in the NFC North by the Minnesota Vikings, the Rams need to get good quickly.

A win for the Rams against the San Francisco 49ers in the regular season will not only put their seven-game losing streak to a screeching halt, but it could also set the stage for the LA Rams to start their own prolonged winning streak.

Allen can be a catalyst for the Rams’ offense

Allen could be the catalyst of success. He not only returns as the team’s starting center, but he is the one who calls out blocking to his teammates. That has been a significant need for the team under backup Jeremiah Kolone, whose protection calls were akin to a deer-in-the-headlights in the first game against the 49ers.

A competent and capable Allen could be huge in the Rams’ efforts to get the win. He played well for the LA Rams in the NFC Championship game and may be able to remind his teammates how to beat the 49ers in this crucial game. The Rams truly need a win now, and Brian Allen could be the key to that victory.

If the Rams can protect quarterback Matthew Stafford, he could find returning WR Van Jefferson deep. He has no problem connecting with WR Cooper Kupp. He may lock in on WR Allen Robinson and finally deliver that chemistry that everyone expected the two to share when the LA Rams signed Robinson to the roster.

The LA Rams are loaded with talent. This offense simply needs someone to step up and lead the way. I believe that Brian Allen’s ferocity and determination could be a key to giving the Rams that chance against the 49ers. No, it won’t be easy. But that was a given for the team that is the reigning NFL Champions.

Brian Allen’s moment is now. What he does with it will be up to him this Sunday, October 30, at 1:25 pm PT.
