Botched 2nd round pick? Akers is, I believe, ermanently done with an Achilles injury (often a killer for RB's) that didn't heal right and his head space is jangled because of it. That's separate from his performance last year and his second round pick. Apples and bricks conflation.
That said, I hate to see his potential go to waste but the Rams have to moveon - maybe trade Akers not for anothjer RB, but package him and something else - a pick and a case of motor oil - for a good journeyman lunchpail-carrying O lineman. They can't get much for him as-is. His value ascended, then plummeted.
